Removal of the cache tab

In the 3.16 version of WP Rocket, the Cache tab has been removed to reduce the number of steps needed to configure WP Rocket.

Important! The features in the Cache tab were not removed from WP Rocket. Some options were relocated, and other options were automatically enabled.

Changes for the Cache Lifespan and User Cache options

These features are relocated as follows:

  • The Cache Lifespan option can be found at the top of the Advanced Rules tab.
  • The User Cache option is present in the Add-ons tab.

The status (activated or deactivated) and the value (of the Cache Lifespan option) respect the previous configuration of WP Rocket.

For new WP Rocket installations, the configuration is set to the default values.

Changes for the Mobile cache option

The following changes are applied to the Mobile Cache option.

Status

  • New installations: Mobile Cache is activated by default in new installations of WP Rocket 3.16.
  • Updating from previous versions: The Mobile Cache option is still activated or still deactivated, depending on the previous configuration of WP Rocket.

Visibility in the UI

  • If the option is activated, there will be no option present in the settings page.
  • In case the feature is not active, an option can be found in the Tools tab.

Deactivation

Changes for the Separate cache files for mobile devices option

The Separate cache files for mobile devices option is combined into the Mobile Cache option, and has the following additional changes.

Status

  • New installations: Activated by default in new installations of WP Rocket 3.16.
  • Updating from previous versions: The status of this option is attached to the status of the Mobile Cache feature. If Mobile Cache was active before, the Separate cache files for mobile devices will be active too (even if this sub-option it was not active). If Mobile Cache was not active, this feature will not be active either.

Visibility in the UI

  • When it's active, this sub-option doesn't have an option in the settings page.
  • This sub-option will be activated if the Mobile Cache is enabled from the Tools tab.

Deactivation

  • If needed, the Separate cache files for mobile devices feature can be deactivated as per this.
